From history buffs to gourmets, sun worshippers to sportsmen, Spain’s Andalusia region offers something for everyone.
Andalusia, surrounded by the Atlantic on the west and the Mediterranean sea on the south, contains some of Spain’s most fabled locations, including Seville, Malaga, Granada and Cordoba.
“Castles, paradores, cathedrals, the Alcazar in Seville, the Jewish quarter in Cordoba and the Alhambra in Granada are all worth the visit alone,” said Robert Paris, co-president, Spanish Heritage Tours.
The region also offers a good value for the American dollar, making it an ideal product for Home Based agents with clients looking for a European destination that has it all, but doesn’t cost a fortune.
To celebrate this region, Spanish Heritage Tours has launched a new Andalusia program. Comprised of independent resort and city packages and a themed escorted tour, the program is part of a comprehensive marketing campaign promoting Andalusia, in cooperation with Tourismo Andaluz.
The campaign’s theme, “Find Your Passion in Andalusia,” reflects the region’s reputation as the romantic heart of Spain and birthplace of flamenco music and dance. The theme also suggests the wide range of interests that can be pursued in Andalusia — from history, culture and religion to food and wine, golf, and sun and sea holidays.
A series of independent one-week “Getaway Packages” on the Costa del Sol are being offered as part of the promotion to the area’s most sought-after locations, including Marbella, Torremolinos, Benemaidea Coast, Estepona, Puerto Banus and Mijas. The packages are perfect for sea and sun lovers, golfers and those who just want to experience the sophisticated atmosphere of Spain’s world-famous Mediterranean resort area.
Getaway Packages start at $749 per person, double occupancy and include roundtrip air from New York, six nights at the client’s choice of hotels (which range from 3- to 5-Star category), daily breakfast, plus hotel service charges and taxes. For added flexibility and savings, there are optional arrangements like airport transfers, local sightseeing tours and excursions that your clients can book along with their basic package.
Designed for clients more interested in cultural pursuits, 4-day independent Getaway Packages are being offered to Seville, Cordoba and Granada, with per person, double occupancy, land-only prices from $149, including three nights hotel accommodations, full breakfast daily and hotel service charges and taxes. Airport transfers, local sightseeing tours and excursions and car rental are available as options.
A 9-day escorted tour, “Savoring Southern Spain,” has a culinary theme, featuring hands-on experiences that include a lesson in tapa-making, sherry tasting, a visit to a traditional olive oil mill and preparing a meal with a local family.
It is priced from $2,499 with roundtrip air from New York, accommodations in 4- and 5-star hotels, daily breakfast and several other meals, land transportation, the services of a professional tour escort, sightseeing and all the special culinary features.
Add-on fares are available from other major U.S. cities. Travel agents earn 12% commission on all air-land package bookings.
