March 2006
Supplement to Travel Trade

Partners from across the country will come together this spring to attend the Partners In Travel annual convention, held at the Diamond Head Resort in Ft. Myers Beach, FL, May 7-11. In its fourth year, the convention provides the agency’s Independent and Home Based travel agents with three days of extensive training, along with the opportunity to meet with key suppliers and participate in open forum roundtable discussions among Partners. For the first time, non-member agents are welcome.
“The number of Partners in our network has grown significantly over the past few years and we expect the number of attendees at this year’s convention to rise as well,” said Jody Ryland, business development manager of Partners in Travel.
“One of the most important aspects of the convention beyond the education and training is the opportunity for Partners to connect with one another and share their respective successes.”
With a theme of “Turning Knowledge into Profits,” Ryland said that the Partners in Travel convention aims to provide attendees with important tools and information to help them grow their businesses and succeed at selling travel. The convention features a variety of industry speakers who will share their trusted sales techniques with the agents and help them to build a business plan.
For the first time, the convention will also open its doors to travel agents outside of the Partners in Travel network as a way to introduce them to the Home Based program.
“Any travel agent who is Home Based or has considered a Home Based career should attend this convention to recognize the many benefits of becoming a member of Partners In Travel,” added Tom Baumann, executive vice president of Carlson Vacation & Business Travel (the Carlson division that owns Partners In Travel) and a featured speaker at the convention.
The cost to attend the convention is $279 for Partners In Travel members and $329 for non-members, and includes full admission, four nights all-suite hotel accommodations (based on double occupancy), a cocktail reception, breakfast and lunch daily, and the farewell dinner. Conference only rates are $135 for members and $185 for non-members.
Partners In Travel provides its Partners with Carlson Travel Group products and offers up to 90% commission splits, a free consumer Web site, free document shipping and 100% commission on any bonus commissions from vendors.
